Roman Baths, Bath (or Aquae Sulis as it was known then). The hot springs still pulse through the Great Bath that the Romans built in the first century AD. Naturally hot, mineral rich spring water at a temperature of 460C rises from here at the rate of 1,170,000 litres (that's 240,000 gallons) every day. http://www.romanbaths.co.uk/ River Kennet, Bath. The Royal Crescent, Bath. Built to the designs of John Wood the Younger between 1767 and 1774, it is considered one of the finest achievements of urban 18th century architecture. http://www.bath-preservation-trust.org.uk/museums/no1/ Sheila, Oriel, John and Marcus, Ironbridge. The world's first cast iron bridge was built over the River Severn at Coalbrookdale in 1779.

Marcus under the bridge at Coalbrookdale. Each rib was cast in two 6 ton pieces and was winched upright to produce a self-supporting arch. Total construction cost was just over £6,000 of which £15 was for a celebratory beer on its completion. A survey on the Iron Bridge in 2000 shed light on how these ribs were put together — the casting techniques appear to have developed and changed as the Bridge was being built.
